The artistic director of Cinderella wanted to make sure there was a clear dichotomy between the dreamy world Ella and Topher inhabited when they fell in love versus the dull world Ella lived in outside of that. To achieve this, I lit the scenes in Ella’s village with warm ambers, browns, and oranges. At the ballroom when Ella and Topher fell in love, the color palette shifted to cool blues and purples.
